Education and Career Guidance
Through our recent Education and Career Guidance (ECG) activities, our students were given meaningful opportunities to discover more about themselves, explore various career pathways, and understand the importance of lifelong learning.
The programme began with an inspiring sharing session by our school alumna, Ms Janice Lee, who fondly recalled her days as a student at Blangah Rise Primary School and shared her journey as a Human Resources professional. Her story encouraged students to adopt a growth mindset, remain resilient, and make thoughtful choices as they shape their own future pathways.
Our Lower Primary students also took the stage to share their passions and strengths, helping them build confidence and self-awareness as they reflected on their interests and aspirations. The highlight of the programme was the Careers Day Fair, where parent volunteers set up interactive booths and engaged students by sharing insights into their professions and real-world working experiences.
Parent volunteer Ms Shauna Xie, a Regional Finance Business Partner, shared,
“I had a wonderful time with the students. I could see strong interest from many of them — perhaps some future cabin crew, pilots, or aerospace engineers in the making, especially among those curious about my role. It was also encouraging to see how many students spoke up confidently and were eager to ask questions. This is a meaningful annual event that gives students valuable insight into working life and the wide variety of careers available.”
Students also shared how the ECG activities inspired them. Kayleigh from 6 Topaz shared that she enjoyed Ms Janice Lee’s alumni talk and was intrigued by the evolution of her career journey. She learnt the importance of perseverance and choosing one’s own pathway, and especially enjoyed hearing the tune of the old school song once again. Anaya from 4 Topaz shared,
“I learnt that you can be anything you want to be when you grow up as long as you do not give up. I hope I will have opportunities to try and experience different jobs in the future.”
Through these ECG experiences, our students learnt that every occupation plays an important role in society and that their interests, strengths, and choices can enable them to contribute meaningfully to the community. As they continue to discover their purpose, explore opportunities, and stay future-ready, we hope they will grow into confident, adaptable, and resilient learners prepared to thrive in an ever-changing world.
